When a summer downpour moves on, a rainbow often rises over Chikuhoku. Just as the far north has its aurora, this village has its rainbows — a seven-coloured bridge that appears the moment the rain eases. A band of light climbs straight from the green ridgeline into the sky, and anyone who looks up is likely to stop where they stand. Rain or shine, the weather here is generous: each turn of the sky leaves behind its own small gift.
