筑北小学校の階段を上ると、窓いっぱいに空が広がる。地域にも開かれたこの校舎では、毎週月曜の放課後「月ようサークル」がひらかれる。歌い、踊り、絵を描き——その日その日で中身は変わり、児童も地域の大人も一緒になって楽しむ。学校が、村のみんなの場所になっていく。

Climb the stairs of Chikuhoku Elementary and the sky opens across a wall of windows. This is a building open to everyone in the village, and every Monday, once class lets out, the “Monday Circle” gathers on the landing. Singing, dancing, drawing — what they do changes from week to week, and children and village grown-ups join in side by side. Little by little, the school is becoming a place that belongs to everyone.
