日ごとに緑が濃くなる筑北の夏。山の斜面をびっしりと覆う若葉のなかに、青い紫陽花がひとかたまり、涼しげに咲いていた。空も、山も、みんな夏へと駆けていく季節。そのなかでこの青だけが、見る人にそっと涼を分けてくれる。ふと見上げれば、やわらかな雲が空を流れていた。

Summer is settling over Chikuhoku, and the green deepens by the day. Fresh leaves swallow whole hillsides, and the whole season seems to be racing toward its height. Then, tucked into all that green, a single cluster of blue hydrangeas — cool, still, in no hurry. While everything else rushes on, this one patch of blue holds the moment open and offers you a breath of coolness in return. Look up, and soft clouds are drifting across the wide summer sky.
